Crane scales (also called hanging scales or load scales) are specialized industrial weighing devices designed to measure the weight of objects that are suspended from above — most often from a crane, hoist, or other lifting equipment. They use load cells (electronic sensors) to measure the force of the suspended load and convert it into a digital weight reading shown on a bright LED or LCD screen.
